What We Do

Services

Solutions engineering is the core of the business. Every service below started as one client's problem.

Product Design & Manufacturing

End-to-end hardware development for experimental aircraft and RC aviation / UAS: CAD design, structural testing, and on-demand additive manufacturing. Engineering-grade materials are our specialty: carbon-fiber composites, chopped (PA-CF, PPS-CF) and continuous-fiber, plus nylons, PEBA, TPU, ASA, and self-lubricating polymers.

  • Mechanical design & iterative prototyping
  • Custom test equipment & field validation
  • Additive manufacturing: on-demand & small-batch runs
  • BOM development & supplier sourcing
  • Custom, purpose-driven ergonomic tool design

Nothing ships untested. WestVector runs the tests, or builds the test plan and quality assurance into the implementation.

E-Commerce & Web Consulting

Storefront builds, migrations, and modernization for small online retailers, with the operational details handled: BigCommerce migration, product launches, catalog management, retail-ready renderings and content, and EU and US compliance.

For our B2B design clients we also prep products for resale: renderings, photos, descriptions, whatever the launch needs.

Program & Project Management

Systems integration, product launches, and legacy-to-modern migrations for smaller companies, delivered with big-company discipline. PMP and CSM certified. 25+ years at American Express, Wells Fargo, and LifeLock/Symantec.

  • Legacy-to-modern system migrations
  • Systems integration & product launches
  • Stalled-program assessment & recovery
  • Program & portfolio management

Custom Software, AI & Engineering Tools

Browser-based engineering applications: calculators, optimizers, and analysis tools that run anywhere with no installation, validated with automated regression testing.

4.5 hours from start to live for a recent client compliance build: deployment, API integration, a customer-facing form, testing, and the written operations guide.

Recent Products & Projects

Engineering outline of a WingBones carbon-fiber composite wing joiner
Direct-to-Consumer Product Line

WingBones: Precision Wing Joiners

Carbon-fiber composite wing joiners for competition sailplanes, designed, tested, and manufactured on-demand in Chandler, Arizona. Validated with custom deflection and crash-threshold test equipment plus CAD stress simulation. World-champion pilots are flying them. Available at wingbones.com.

Engineering Software

Angle Lab: RC Sailplane Wing Geometry Optimizer

A browser-based analysis and optimization tool built for one purpose: RC sailplane wing geometry. Angle Lab takes a complex aerodynamics problem and makes it usable by pilots who are not engineers, through interactive configuration, side-by-side comparison, and an automated optimizer. Public, and maintained through regular versioned releases.

Experimental Aircraft

Experimental Aircraft Components: Design & Production

Custom-engineered components for experimental aircraft: cabin and interior hardware, engine-compartment accessories, and external non-structural parts. Current production includes ergonomic tow bar handles, mounts, and accessory mounts. This is business-to-business work: we design and produce components that our clients sell under their own brands, so we never compete with them in the consumer market.

E-Commerce Consulting

Aviation Parts Retailer: Storefront Modernization

Full replatforming for an established aviation parts retailer: theme migration to a modern framework, brand refresh, legacy content transfer, new product launches, ongoing site support, and bringing the store into compliance with both EU and US consumer regulations.

Who Is Behind It

About WestVector

I founded WestVector in 2022. I am an industrial engineer (B.S., Purdue University) and a program manager, certified as a PMP and CSM. My career started in manufacturing engineering: facility layout, material flow, and a Kanban replenishment system that removed $1.8M of inventory in under six months. I then spent more than 25 years delivering complex technical programs, software, and systems at American Express, Wells Fargo, and LifeLock/Symantec.

What began as 3D-printed wing joiners for fellow competition pilots grew into a business serving the aviation community and beyond. I compete nationally in RC soaring and co-founded the Southwest Soaring Society. The program management practice runs alongside the shop today: same discipline, different deliverable.

Test before shipping

Custom test rigs for structural components, automated regression harnesses for software. Where the customer runs the tests, the test plan and quality assurance are built into the implementation. Claims get measured, not assumed.

Design for real budgets

Products validated with users and the environment they live in, then engineered for manufacturability and what the project can spend.

Handle the unglamorous parts

Supplier sourcing, international compliance, product content, operations handoff, and the documentation that leaves a product, system, or program self-sustaining. The details that decide whether a delivery is real.
